San Clemente Gym Lifting Club

San Clemente Lifting Club is a dedicated group of enthusiastic and like-minded lifters who meet to improve and teach the art of lifting. Our group varies in skill level and experience and includes those that are just learning to lift, those that may be training in preparation for competitions, and those veteran skilled lifters who have spent years lifting.

SCLC prides itself in not only on excelling at every aspect of lifting techniques, but also as a family that supports each other and shares decades of skill and knowledge to new and veteran lifters of every level. Our members are able to lift and learn under the tutelage of Powerlifting Coaches and the other guest coaches each class. Every month you will have a chance to hone your technique, correct your weaknesses, and plan out your training so that you are at the peak of your lifting abilities, and you’ll have some time at make friends with an incredible group of guys and gals who are dedicating to continuing the old school values and techniques of powerlifting.

SCLC team members also compete in United States Powerlifting Association sanctioned meets throughout the year. In order to compete as a SCLC team member you must have a current USPA membership.

BIG 3 BEACH WEIGHTLIFTING EVENT

Parking is free. Come early to sign paperwork and get your spot. Meet at San Clemente Gym and be ready to lift at 7pm. Wraps, Liquid Chalk, Water, & Towels available at the front desk for purchase. (Powdered Chalk Allowed) This is a FREE LIFT EVENT. (No Membership Required) 

 

The San Clemente Lifting Club is a positive training atmosphere for strength training where all athletes are encouraged to come out and train at their own level from novice to elite. Being a member of the club is also great conditioning for those interested in competing in upcoming competitions! Part of the San Clemente Lifting Club is the elite Big 3 Club. You may become a member of the Big 3 Club once you can successfully complete 3 lifts (Bench Press, Deadlift, and Squat) at one of the below listed poundage.

Women

500 Pound Club 500 pounds – 699 pounds
700 Pound Club 700+ pounds

Men

1000 Pound Club 1000 pounds – 1499 pounds
1500 Pound Club 1500 pounds – 1999 pounds
2000 Pound Club 2000+ pound

How it Works

Once a month the San Clemente Lifting Club will meet to qualify for the Big 3 Club. .

The general rules for Powerlifting will be verbally explained to all participants at the beginning of the Saturday club meeting.
Upon arrival the participants will be given the go ahead to warm up for their first lift (their choice of any of the three lifts). If there are questions regarding what is considered an acceptable lift the participant can show the judge and the judge will let you know if it will count. Audible commands are allowed if the participant wants them.

When the participants and judge/judges are ready, the participant will start the first lift according to their place on the signup sheet. As each lift is performed, they are documented with the highest amount correctly lifted selected as part of the overall score. The participant then goes to warm up for the second lift and the process is repeated.

At the end of the three lifts, the totals are calculated.

If the participant is successful, a certificate will be awarded for that qualifying category. In addition, a photo (if participant agrees) will be placed on the facilities “brag board” and on the San Clemente Gym webpage in the qualifying weight category. Guidelines

BIG 3 BEACH WEIGHTLIFTING EVENT

San Clemente Gym and the San Clemente Lifting Club invites you to join us for the First Annual Big 3 Beach Weightlifting Event going down TBD @ San Clemente Gym. SPECTATORS FREE ADMISSION!

San Clemente Gym will be holding a 500/1000 lb club competition on Saturday, April 6th from 8 am to 12 noon. This will be a combination of bench press, squat, and deadlift. Competitors will have 3 chances to lift their maximum weight for each type of lift. The goal is to lift a combined total of 1,000 lbs (males) / 500 lbs (females) or better.

Trophies and Prizes will be given to the top 3 Male and top 3 Female competitors. This competition is open to ages 16 and over, who wish to participate. Registration is required and there is a $20 registration fee (Non-Refundable). No registrations will take place at the event. Pre-registration Only! Registration opens TBD. Registration ends TBD.

Check in starts at 7:00 am the day of the event. This is a non-sanctioned event. You do not need to belong to any federation to compete, or be a member of the gym. Lifting Attire: All competitors must wear shoes and a T-Shirt. No Velcro, 6” lifting belts or gloves are allowed on the lifting platform. You MUST also wear socks that come up to your knees and shoes or deadlift slippers. Lifting belts and knee sleeves are allowed. You may use lifting straps for deadlifts only.

Deadlift Beach Classic

San Clemente Gym and the San Clemente Lifting Club invites you to join us for the First Annual Deadlift Beach Barbell Classic going down Sunday August 12th 9am – 12 noon @ San Clemente Gym. FREE ENTRY! Prizes will be given out for our best lifts. The competition will be in two separate categories MOST WEIGHT AND MOST REPS for Men and Women. Most reps will be at 2xBody Weight for Men and 1.5xBody Weight for Women. SPECTATORS FREE ADMISSION!

More and more Sponsors are rolling in. Kingdom Nutrition, Raw Grip Liquid Chalk, Ray’s Barber Shop, California Coastal Loans, San Diego Protein Company, & Bucked Up will all be giving out samples and products. The DONUT part will be supplied by none other than San Diego Protein Company! So plan your cheat meals accordingly and we will see you all there! LET’S GET IT!
