At the age the of 49, I was reeling from a bitter divorce, and I was completely out of shape, carrying 60 extra pounds of body fat and pushing a 39″ waist size. I was angry, depressed, and sad, and I felt like less than a man. I looked at pictures of myself and couldn’t believe I had let myself get so far out of shape and that I looked the way I did.
It was time to make a change in my life and to do what I needed to do to claim my life back. I made the monumental decision to get not only back in shape but to be in the best shape of my life ever and to reclaim my youthful spirit for life that I had lost. 1 year, 4 months, and 14 days later, I did it. I lost 60 lbs, measured a 30″ waist, and dropped to 7% body fat.
It was at that point that I decided I not only had a deep passion for exercise and healthy eating habits but that I wanted to give back everything that I had received during my fitness journey and to help others transform themselves by getting certified as a Personal Trainer.

Kathleen Lavin


I have lived in San Clemente for most of my life, and love our beautiful town. I have had my own local personal training business for 23 years, which began with 4 years of managing a back and neck rehabilitation center for an orthopedist. I have a strong passion for helping my clients to achieve their best health and life, and to feel and look their best. I have trained many of my clients for more than 18 years, and truly care for each of them. I do my best to make a great positive difference in each of their lives, including their physical health, confidence level, and attitude.

I strive to customize each individual’s program according to their unique needs, goals, and limitations. I incorporate a variety of different types of training techniques to make each session challenging, interesting, safe, and fun. Workouts may include strength, flexibility, cardiovascular, conditioning, agility, rehabilitative, corrective, and functional exercises (focuses on movements necessary in everyday life, and proper body mechanics), TRX (suspension and rip training), tabata, HIIT (high intensity interval training), plyometric, boot camp, and sports specific training, yoga, and mat pilates, in addition to traditional training, depending on the individual’s needs. I offer nutrition, weight loss, weight management, body building and sculpting, heath coaching, postural alignment, neck and back stabilization and conditioning, and injury prevention. I work with all fitness levels and all ages, from youth to older adult.

I hold a BA degree from the University of San Diego, and my certifications include Spinal Rehabilitation (neck and back) from the University of Florida, Spin from Schwinn / Jonny G, and TRX.

Brandon Peters

Brandon has been making his mark in the fitness industry for over ten years now. With an extensive background in fitness and nutrition, he has had the privilege of training all types of populations ranging from bankers to athletes, young to old, and everyone in-between. In recent years, he has taken his expertise to film and television. As Fitness Director and Head Trainer of the Cinemax hit television series, Banshee, he kept the entire cast fit for their physically demanding roles.

When it comes to training his clients, Brandon strives for excellence, consideration, motivation, innovation, and fun. He is committed to not only helping his clients realize their true potential and reach their goals, but to educating them along the way so they can better understand and appreciate their own journeys.
